Kintsugi Sunflower Spindle For Ukraine - Limited Edition

Kintsugi Sunflower Spindle For Ukraine - Limited Edition

€75.00

I made three of these spindles as a way to support the Ukrainian people during this time of war and distress.
This is a LIMITED EDITION of three.
Each spindle has a Sunflower - Ukraine national flower - wood burned on it. A crack filled with 24k gold leaf is behind it, to symbolize the hope for a brighter future coming from this time of deep pain.
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise.

I will donate 50% of the proceeds of each spindle to charities that are helping the Ukrainian population:
- Red Cross Ukraine (https://www.icrc.org/en/where-we-work/europe-central-asia/ukraine). From their website: “Our support to people includes emergency assistance such as food, water, and other essential items. We also support hospitals and primary healthcare facilities with medical equipment and emergency preparedness. We repair water stations and support households to rehabilitate their damaged homes. We also help families separated by the conflict reconnect.”
-
Save The Children (https://www.savethechildren.net/what-we-do/emergencies/ukraine-crisis). From their website: “Save the Children has been operating in Ukraine since 2014. Our teams are ready to provide life-saving assistance such as food, water, cash transfers, and safe places for children.”

Once I have complete the transfer of funds to these associations, I will send you an email with proof of the transaction.
